Free And Accepted Masons – Why I Became a Master Mason

The Internet is filled with masonic conspiracy theories. If half were true, the world would be run by Freemasons.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. A world governed by the principles of freemasonry would be a better place … one where you could believe in a Supreme Deity and respect the rights of others to hold religious beliefs other than your own.

Despite popular belief, freemasonry is not a religious or political organization. In fact, religion and politics aren’t discussed in Masonic lodges. However, no athiest can be made a Mason. Whether you’re a Christian (Catholic or Protestant), Jew, or Muslim is not important. In fact, I’m a Deist. What is important is whether you’re a good man. Freemasonry strives to make good men better.

If freemasonry isn’t for you, that’s okay. It isn’t for everyone.

However, if you’re interested in joining a fraternal brotherhood that lasts a lifetime … and beyond, ask a Mason that you know or your local Masonic lodge for more information.

Here’s a related video.

I’ve also included a link to the Grand Lodge of Texas‘ website. Check out the Texas Masonic History section. While many people know that George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were prominent Freemasons who helped create the United States, you’ll probably be surprised to read how Masons like Sam Houston, Col. William Travis, Davie Crockett and Jim Bowie played key roles in founding the Republic of Texas.

Of course, feel free to contact me if you live near Plano, Texas and would like to know more.

Harry Potter 0Day – Harry Potter Book 7 Allegedly Stolen By Hacker Who Posts Spoilers

J.K. Rowling’s publisher, Bloomsbury Books won’t confirm or deny the validity of a post by a hacker named Gabriel who claims that he obtained a digital copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book Seven) by using an e-mail virus.

I’m a bit skeptical after reading Gabriel’s post but it has rocked the publishing world and the fans who are anxiously waiting for the book to come out. Book 6 had copies stolen pre-publication and the culprits were arrested. That’s harder to do when you’ve got hackers pulling down digital files from countries that won’t prosecute or extradite for cybercrimes.

Post-publication, Book 6 and its predecessors were available almost immediately online as teams scanned parts of the books, compiled them, and posted them on peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. The Internet age makes copyright protection almost a lost cause…and begs for a different model for profitable publishing.
Here’s the link to the alleged Harry Potter hacker spoiler post. Note that “spoiler” means that he’s giving away key plot details (if he is telling the truth). Written in broken English, the spoiler refers to the fates of Harry, Ron, Hermoine, Hagrid, Voldemort, Snape, Malfoy, and Hogwarts.

Blogger Successfully Sued For Making Defamatory Posts

If your business is damaged by blog postings, here’s something to consider. A college student set up a blog that attacked a journalist. The journalist successfully sued the blogger in a California small claims court for libel and tortious business interference.
Something to consider if a disgruntled former employee, competitor, or other malcontent starts trashing your business online.
