Trademark Infringement Pig Getting Too Fat In The Head

The National Pork Board bit off more than it could chew when trying to protect its “The Other White Meat” slogan from alleged trademark infringement by a breastfeeding website’s sale of t-shirts that read “The Other White Milk.”

Let’s see. Breastfeeding versus a slab of pork. I fail to see the confusion or potential for trademark infringement or dilution.

The lesson to take from this is that big business is prone to protect its intellectual property without applying common sense before asserting trademark infringement. Instead of ignoring the issue, the pig lobby played bully, assuming that a small operation would give in without a fight.

Here’s a link to the trademark infringement cease-and-desist letter.
