FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I want to talk with you about my business. What’s the first step?
A: Set up your initial consultation.
Q: Can you represent me even if I don’t live in Texas?
A: Many clients live in other states or in other countries (United Kingdom, Australia, etc.). Most Internet issues involve federal and international laws that I routinely handle. If something comes up that involves the laws of a particular country or state, local legal counsel can be brought in to help resolve the issue.
Q: How Much Do You Charge?
A: It depends on what you need. Some legal issues are more complex than others. Where possible, projects are handled on a flat fee basis (payable in advance). If the scope of work cannot be clearly defined (such as contract negotiations that can be quick or take time), professional services are rendered on an hourly basis billed in 1/10th hour increments. A retainer will be required in such cases.
Q: I’m broke but need legal help. Will you work for free?
A: Each December, the law firm selects the nonprofit charities that it will provide legal services to on a pro bono (free) basis. If you are a nonprofit charitable institution, please apply by November 30th for consideration. Free or low cost legal representation for indigents may be available through your state or local bar association. If you need website legal forms (privacy policy, terms of use, etc.) and can’t afford to pay an Internet lawyer, consider getting the Website Legal Forms GeneratorTM software.
Q: What type of business entity should I use?
A: Each situation is unique. However, many successful business owners use either a limited liability company or a corporation.
Q: I want to set up my company in Delaware, Nevada or Wyoming. How much do you charge to do this?
A: We won’t do it. Read the free special report “Scam Artists and Your Business” to find out why. If you’re interested in setting up a Texas limited liability company, corporation, or other Texas business entity, let’s talk.
