Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why are you offering discounts on these packages?
A: Because professional copywriters are some of my favorite clients, I wanted to make an attractive offer to encourage you to become a client. Consider it a test run to see if there’s a good fit for a long-term business relationship between us.
Q: Why use a Nondisclosure Agreement (NDA) for copywriting?
A: Also known as a “Confidentiality Agreement,” an NDA provides your prospects and clients peace of mind that you will protect their trade secrets and other confidential information. Some copywriters use an NDA as a marketing tool with prospects by offering to sign one before discussing a potential project.
Q: What’s a Freelance Copywriting Agreement?
A: This type of agreement is designed to be used when you’re providing copywriting services as an independent contractor instead of as an employee. Depending on your circumstances, you can choose to have the agreement customized to cover a single project for a client or to use for multiple projects with the same client over a period of time (e.g., a 12-month contract covering multiple projects).
Q: Are these documents customized for my copywriting business?
A: Yes. Based on the information you provide during the initial phone consultation, the documents will be customized to use as a template in your business. You also receive one set of revisions to the document(s) upon request within 10 days of your receiving them.
Q: Can I use the documents for multiple clients?
A: Of course. You can use the documents with all of your copywriting clients. Just change the details for each client and project.
Q: What is a Sales Copy Legal Compliance Review?
A: Whether it’s an online sales page, a print sales letter, or an email marketing campaign, you’ll want to slash your risk of getting sued or in trouble with the government by getting a professional Sales Copy Legal Compliance Review. As part of the review, I’ll identify legal dangers that could land you in hot water.
- Stop! First, I’ll identify legal problems that should be fixed immediately along with recommendations on how to fix them. These are often legal issues that could destroy your business if you’re sued or the government comes after you for breaking the law.
- Caution! The review will also cover potential legal problems plus recommend changes to fix these issues and/or how to proceed with caution to limit your potential liability exposure. Of course, you’ll have the freedom to make a business judgment call as to whether the financial benefits of keeping things the same outweighs the benefits of following recommendations to reduce your legal risks.
- Go! And the compliance review also identifies key parts of your sales copy where you’re doing things right because you’ll want to repeat these good practices.
Q: How will I receive the documents?
A: You can choose to receive the agreements as MS Word documents (.docx format) by email or as Google Docs via Google Drive. If you select the Platinum Protection Package, your Sales Copy Legal Compliance Review will be emailed to you as an Adobe Acrobat (.pdf format) file.
Q: What legal rights do I have to the documents?
A: The customized documents will be licensed to your business to use with your clients. Yet the law firm retains copyright ownership to protect our intellectual property (no giving or selling the documents to copywriter friends) and prevent unauthorized practice of law claims against you as a non-lawyer.
Q: What if I want other legal help?
A: Additional legal services beyond the scope of these packages are available on either a flat fee or hourly basis billed in 1/10th hour increments at my standard hourly rate.
Q: Is there another way to set up the initial phone consultation?
A: Yes. Call 1-214-546-4247.
Q: Is there anything else I should know?
A: All legal work is done in the State of Texas and is based solely on Texas law, U.S. federal law, and applicable international law. Most copywriting issues relate to U.S. federal law and international law.
What Clients Are Saying…
Mike Young Is The Exception
“As a copywriter and entrepreneur, I usually do whatever I can to avoid attorneys. Fact is, the overwhelming majority of attorneys don’t have a clue what entrepreneurs want and need. Michael Young is the exception. He understands internet marketing and what internet marketers need. Recently, I contacted Mike to get some legal advice and his knowledge and preparation really impressed me. So if you need to contact a lawyer, and you need somebody who understands the unique legal challenges facing today’s internet marketer, I recommend you contact Mike Young.”

Mike Young ‘Gets’ Marketing
“Most business lawyers don’t understand marketing. They prefer to play it safe, which means gutting nearly every piece of the advertising they review. As a copywriter, that makes my job harder. I don’t know how many hours I’ve wasted fighting with my clients’ lawyers simply to get approval on an ad or sales letter. Mike Young has studied the marketing classics and stays current in the industry. He understands what I’m doing and works with me, rather than against me. That’s why I refer my clients to him and retain his services for all my business legal needs.”
