Yes, many Internet marketers should be scared about the way they do business now because the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has new guidelines that went into effect on December 1, 2009 concerning endorsements and testimonials.
There are even some online marketers going into retirement or moving their businesses offshore hoping to escape the FTC’s wrath. That’s my take as a Website attorney if the FTC enforces these guidelines.
If you’re doing nothing in response to the FTC new guidelines, you could be hurting your business. However, if you do the wrong thing, you could do even more damage.
Unfortunately, there are scams being created to capitalize on that fear. If you fall for one of these scams, you could actually put your business in more danger with the FTC, other government agencies, and even consumer attorneys looking to sue you.
Your Website attorney can fill you in on the details.
To your success!
